A historic city and significant Hindu pilgrimage location, Haridwar is located in the Uttarakhand region of northern India, where the Ganges River emerges from the Himalayan foothills. A nightly Ganga Aarti is held at Har Ki Pauri, the largest of several holy ghats, during which little flickering lamps are floated from the steps. During big holidays, such as the yearly Kanwar Mela, devotees flood the city. In addition to its unique Gurukul method of traditional teaching, the scenic beauty, and the lush greenery all add to Haridwar's long standing reputation as a rich source for Ayurvedic medicines and herbal therapies.
The phrase "yoga capital of the world," is often used to describe Rishikesh, and for clear reason. The area is crowded with tourists who come to practise yoga and meditate beside the Ganges River in the foothills of the Himalayas. Rishikesh is home to a large number of ashrams, some of which are well-known worldwide as centres for yoga, philosophical study, and other traditional Indian practices of well-being.
One of the most well-known hill resorts in the nation is Mussoorie, commonly referred to as the Queen of the Hills. It is the ideal summer getaway and a fascinating destination for tourists and honeymooners.
